custom pet painting

I've been in a princess kind of mood. I tend to focus on one theme at a time until the ideas run out and I move to the next (or previous) series.
One series I recently revisited is the princess collection. I love the idea of interpreting iconic moments from my favorite fairy tales.
This is the first time I attempted to paint Snow White. Naturally, she needed a monochromatic treatment (skin as snow as white, lips as red as rubies, etc.) and a really cool vintage frame.
Often, while painting, I stop for a moment to snap a pic in order to tell the story of how the piece came to be.
her personality is taking shape
I wonder if she is dreaming while in the enchanted sleep.
This is how I sketch.
My good friend and fellow artist Kathleen, fell in love with the blob with attitude phase. I need to learn to step back and really feel the entire process instead of simply documenting it.
Inspired by the idea, I recreated the painting and stopped before she completely took shape. It is a completely different look and in some ways, she holds the promise of possibilities.
Which version of Snow White speaks to you?
Snow White and my other princesses are coming with me to the Candy Dance in Genoa, Nevada September 23-24, 2017.
